In September, the port of Felixstowe in the UK will begin deploying a fleet of 100 battery-powered autonomous trucks as hauliers declare that "the AI revolution is truly underway."
Since 2020, the Hutchison-owned port has been using 15 AI-controlled trucks at its Terminal D in Thailand's Laem Chabang Port under a deal with manufacturer Westwell.
"The forthcoming trucks will enhance the efficiency and consistent functioning of our container handling operations, while also playing a vital role in reducing carbon emissions at the port", said Clemence Cheng, CEO of Felixstowe.
