Global Truck Driver Shortage: A Forthcoming Industry Crisis

The International Road Transport Association (IRU) has reiterated its concerns about the chronic shortage of truck drivers globally, warning that this issue could potentially lead the industry to failure.
IRU Secretary General, Umberto de Pretto, highlighted the growing scarcity of truck drivers in most regions, which poses significant risks to the supply chains we all rely on.
“What is even more concerning is the low rate of young people entering the profession. The trucking industry has an ageing driver population that we must structurally address”, said IRU Secretary General.
