Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Bridging the price gap remains a significant and daunting challenge

The industry is aware of the multiple challenges that sustainable aviation entails. Fuel prices are still outrageous, and its shortage makes the situation worse. While major carriers with strong financial resources can obtain significant amounts, the smallest airlines and freight operators find it challenging to obtain sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Regardless of the difficulties, an increasing number of carriers and forwarders are actively releasing their SAF plans, demonstrating a rising commitment to environmentally responsible aviation practices. The most recent events, however, point to less promising medium-term prospects.

According to a recently published paper, fuel prices are unlikely to witness a decline anytime soon.
