TRQs on EU Steel and Aluminum Extended!

By In USA Trade Alerts On 24th January 2024

U.S. President Biden signed two Presidential Proclamations extending the Tariff Rate Quotas (TRQs) for EU steel and aluminum for two additional years.

The TRQ extension will take effect on January 1, 2024, and last until December 31, 2025.

These Tariff Rate Quotas allow for a specified amount of particular steel and aluminum products from the EU to enter free of Section 232 tariffs. These products would otherwise be assessed at an additional 25% on steel and 10% on aluminum on top of regular duties.

U.S. Customs provides weekly Quota Status Reports that show quota fill percentages. Importers can use the reports to check if their products may fall within quota.
