U.S. and Taiwan Reach an Agreement

On February 12, 2026, the U.S. signed an agreement with Taiwan on reciprocal trade. The effective date will be announced later.

  • General Note 2: Reciprocal tariffs shall not apply to originating goods of Taiwan as set out in Schedule 2A of the Tariff Schedule [starts on page 517].
  • General Note 3: Originating goods of Taiwan set out in Schedule 2B [starts on page 605] will be subject to a reciprocal tariff rate of zero.
  • General Note 4: The MFN rate of duty shall continue to apply for items in General Note 2 & 3.
  • General Note 5: For all other originating goods from Taiwan, the reciprocal tariff rate of duty is determined by the good’s MFN rate of duty in effect under column 1 (General) of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States.
    • A good with an MFN rate of duty that is less than 15%, the sum of the MFN rate of duty and the reciprocal tariff shall be 15%
    • A good with an MFN rate of duty that is at least 15%, the reciprocal tariff shall be zero.
