India-Pakistan Trade Routes Closed

India and Pakistan have imposed mutual restrictions on cargo movement through their respective ocean gateways, impacting regional logistics flows.

India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) announced that the import and transit of all goods originating from or exported to Pakistan would be prohibited with immediate effect. The decision was described as being in line with national security and public policy considerations.

In response, Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce issued a reciprocal directive. However, it clarified that shipments already supported by bills of lading or letters of credit prior to the announcement would be permitted to proceed.
