The U.S. Trade Representative announced new tariffs on semiconductors from China under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. The tariff action begins on December 23, 2025, at 0%, then on June 23, 2027, the rate will increase to a rate to be announced at least 30 days before that date. The tariff action will use the same Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) number as the Section 301 China 50% ad valorem rate that went into effect on January 1, 2025.
The new higher tariffs that go into effect in 2027 will be in addition to the existing 50% Section 301 China tariffs related to forced technology transfer.
Effective Date
June 23, 2027: The ad valorem duty rate on certain semiconductors will increase from 50% to a new higher rate that will be announced at least 30 days prior to June 23, 2027.
