New U.S. – El Salvador Reciprocal Trade Deal Signed

On January 29, 2026, the U.S. Trade Representative announced the signing of the U.S. – El Salvador Agreement on Reciprocal Trade. As part of the agreement, the U.S. will revise reciprocal tariffs on El Salvador’s originating goods, as set out in Annex I of the agreement. The agreement will enter into force in the future; the date will be announced.

Key Details

Reciprocal tariffs shall not apply to:

  • Originating goods of El Salvador set out in Schedule 1A
  • Dominican Republic – Central America – U.S. Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) goods originating El Salvador classifiable in the subheadings provided in Schedule 2.

A reciprocal tariff rate of 0% on originating goods of El Salvador as set out in Schedule 1B, in accordance with Executive Order 14360 of November 14, 2025 (Modifying the Scope of the Reciprocal Tariffs With Respect to Certain Agricultural Products)

For all other goods of El Salvador, the additional ad valorem rate of duty shall be no higher than 10%.

The reciprocal rate of duty is in addition to any U.S. MFN rate of duty in effect or preferential rate of duty in effect under the CAFTA-DR, as applicable.
