Increased Tariffs on Wood Furniture and Cabinets Delayed One Year

On December 31, 2025, President Trump announced the postponement of an increase in Section 232 tariffs on upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities imported into the U.S. The higher tariffs are delayed for one year, until January 1, 2027. The increase was set to take place on January 1, 2026.

The current 25% tariff on certain upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities, as imposed under the September 25, 2025 Proclamation, will remain in effect.

Effective Date

Effective January 1, 2027, the duty rate for upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, vanities, and parts shall increase, except for countries with which the United States reaches an agreement that addresses the threatened impairment of national security posed by imports of wood products. 

• Upholstered Furniture shall increase to 30%
• Kitchen cabinets and vanities, and parts thereof shall increase to 50%
