Baja California Positioning to be Hub for EV Manufacturing

By In Insight On 14th July 2022

Starting in 2035, all new cars sold in California and other parts of the United States will have to be electric or run on other alternative energy sources.

Business leaders in Baja, California, recognize this as an opportunity to lead their state into becoming a hub for the manufacture of low-emission vehicles.

Kurt Honnold, Secretary of Commerce for the state of Baja California, is putting together a trip of business leaders to meet with European car manufacturers to spearhead this initiative.

There have been efforts in the past to build a deep-water container port south of Tijuana. A commitment from one of these vehicle manufacturers may be enough to jump-start these conversations again.
