China 301 Tariff Statutory Review Begins

The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) begins the four-year review process for two actions under Section 301 China tariffs.
The first step in the review process is to notify representatives of domestic industries which benefit from the trade action of the possible termination of the action and provide an opportunity to request a continuation of the tariffs.
- USTR will mail notice to parties who have previously commented in support of the tariffs on dockets related to the investigation.
- USTR has issued a Federal Register Notice, notifying all domestic industries benefiting from the trade action.
Important Dates
Responses are due back within 60 days of the fourth anniversary of the action.
- May 7 - July 5, 2022, for the July 6, 2018 action (List 1 - HTS 9903.88.01)
- June 24 - August 22, 2022, for the August 23, 2018 action (List 2 - HTS 9903.88.02)
Next Steps
The USTR will announce in subsequent notices whether it has received a request for continuation. If the actions continue, USTR will proceed with the next phase of the review, a review of Section 301.
