2022 Harmonized Tariff Updates

By In USA Trade Alerts On 6th January 2022

On December 23, 2021, the White House released a proclamation amending the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, implementing the five-year update to the World Customs Organization’s Harmonized System tariff. Significant changes to the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule will take effect on January 27, 2022.

The proclamation amends provisions on Section 301 tariffs and various trade agreements to conform to the changes elsewhere in the HTS. The proclamation also removes Ethiopia, Guinea, and Mali as African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) beneficiaries as these countries no longer meet AGOA requirements. This particular change takes effect on January 1, 2022.
